Where to begin
Just walk up and 'talk' to any Auctioneer. These are commonly placed in most cities and space stations. After a short pause the auction screen will appear, with some items that are about to expire. These usually have between 15 minutes to the second the auction ends. Also where most of the bidding wars take place as the time ticks down.
How to buy an item(s)
Click on the 'last calls'. This will bring up auction items that are close to expiring (less than 15 minuets or so). To view new listings, click on the link below. To browse around, click on the browse button. This will open into two sections, items (where most the stuff is), and estates (apartments, houses, LA's, and the like).
Browse through the different categories, and scroll through the pages of the items. If you find an item you like, KEEP BROWSING. Chances are there are better deals down the road or something else you want. Once you find an item you like, select the item then click the 'view' button on the bottom of the auction window.
This will bring up the 'buyer' window. This will show the item, the name, TT price, current bid price, buyouts, and if the item has had past bids, the name of the player and the amount they bid. To place your bid, put your PED card on the appropriate slot, then use the up/down arrows to place the amount you want to bid. Click 'yes' on the window that pops up, then you have officially placed your bid.
Now depending on the amount of time left, if you have days to wait you should leave and hunt/mine/log off or whatever you normally do. However if there's only a few minutes left, you should hang around the auction house. Why?
If your bid was passed up by a bigger bid, you will receive a notification that your bid has been passed, and the ped is returned to your card. Thus in order to be the top bidder again, you have to see the auctioneer and place a higher bid. During the final moments of a rare item the number of bids can rise quickly as players race to outbid each other.
If the time is below 5 minutes when a bid is placed, the timer will be reset to 5 minutes. This is to give any other parties a chance to reach an auctioneer to rebid.
How to sell an item
If you plan to sell something, click the 'sell' button on the auction window. Here you can put the item you want to sell in, and the auction information will automatically update to accommodate the item. You can set the time the item is on auction (1 to 7 days), a starting bid, and if desired a buyout (A higher price which will end the auction before the end date). The starting fee to put an item out is 50 PEC, and if you set a higher start price the fee will increase as well (up to 100 PED). If the item sells this will also be taken out of the final price.
Note of caution: You can set the starting bid lower than the TT price of the item! Big mistake if you do...
Aftermath
If you win, you can pick up your item at the auctioneer. That's it! If you lose, don't worry, there will always be more auctions...
Things to note
- When you receive a weapon amp/scope/laser sight, it may not attach. Relogging solves this problem.
- There may be a wait period after you win an item/item gets sold. Be patient.
