Decay

Decay is what happens to tools and weapons as they are used. Whether it's every round that is used in a rifle or every probe that is dropped the item decays. Different items have different rates of decay, although low level common items commonly have lower rates (.01-.04 pec/use), while higher-end tools and weaponry are more frigle (.15-.50+ pec/use decay). Same applys to armor and other items with condition statuses.

To find the current condition of an item, go to your iventory page ('i' on your keyboard by default), then right click the item in question. A detailed description from the items worth to it's stats and condition. Under the stats bar you can see how well the item withholds against decay. This is helpful to see if things decay at a set rate.

Some items, like weapons and scanners, work as well almost broken as they do fully repaired. Others, like armor, degrade with use, thus the lower the condition the less it protects the user.

In order to remedy this, Repair Terminals have been installed in most towns and outposts, so placing your equipment in the Terminal and paying for repairs can make your equiptment more useful and valueable. Note some items have limited(L) by the name, and when the condition hits zero, there is no repairing it.
