Hangar

From Entropia Directory wiki

A typical hangar

A hangar is a special piece of estate that allows the owner to transport people to space. Hangars are similar to houses but are slightly bigger as they house a space ship inside.

There are quite a few hangars in on Calpyso and the main areas you will find these hangers is North of Camp Echidna, NE of fort Zeus , in the Corinth beach area, and on Treasure Island.

Currently, one can travel via spaceship to the Crystal Palace Space Station as well as Club NEVERDIE.

Buying a hangar

Considerations to take note of when buying a hangar

  • Is the location convenient for not only you but your passengers as well?
  • How much time do you wish to spend looking for passengers?
  • Is it a long run from the TP to the hangar?
  • Are you willing to pay a lot for the hanger up-front?
  • Can you afford to repair/buy extra parts when needed to keep the ship spaceworthy?

no need to pay for extra parts when the ship is 'done', only a decay fee is necessary

  • Are you able to pay the matainence fee of 10 PEDs every month?

no 10 peds fee on the maintenance of the hangar

  • Are you able to afford the ~50 000 PEDs to buy the hangar?

between 10000 peds (before CND) to 40000 peds

  • Remember to check the Estate Terminal by the door of the hangar to determine maximum number of items to be placed inside the hangar and other important information.

Benefits of a hangar

  • Continued flights with max passengers at decent pricings ensure constant profit
  • Grouped in small numbers of other hangers
  • When fully conditioned there will be low maintence
  • Always in demand for pilots

Disadvantages of a hangar

  • Not storage friendly for miscellanous items
  • Will need an amount of refined oil per flight
  • Large cost when purchasing it

Setting up a hangar

If it has not been done before, the owner of the hangar will be required to gather equipment and special parts to get the space ship in working order. This will only need to be done once. The space craft in the hangar can only be used when the hangar has been set up.

After getting hold of the above parts, you can complete the setting up of the hangar by doing the following:

  • Add all parts into the hatches
  • Run the test in the control room (second floor by the hangar power supply) WARNING! Evacuate the hangar hall from all ppl before you run the test...or maybe not ;)
  • If everything is okay, the ship will now be ready to be used for space crafts
  • Fuel up with refined oil into the fuel tank on the backside of the left wing
  • Sit down in the pilots chair (the one to the left) and activate the HUD by pressing the button to the left. Use the repair interface and repair the ship if needed (it will probably work without repairs too).

Going to space

Once the hangar has been set up, the owner can then fly customers and friends to space. Each flight can take a maximum of five passengers including the pilot.

Many hangar owners are willing to fly people to space after being paid a pre-arranged amount, after which they will bring their customers to the hangar, add the customers to the pilot's friend list and proceed with the flight.

Additionally, a certain amount of crude oil will be required for each flight to proceed. Pilots usually charge their customers the price of this oil with a small markup to account for profit and the decay on the ship.

Once you get onto the ship, one of the first things you will see are the seats. There are two seats in the cockpit area (the left seat is for the pilot only), two more seats to the left and right behind the cockpit and one seat to the rear of the ship. You can sit in any seat except the pilots seat. To sit down, right click on a chair and chose sit down on from the menu that pops up.

Once you have sat down, you will receive the following message in your chat window:

The HUD button

The HUD button

This message tells you that you need to activate the HUD, which will then bring up the ship's interface. This is done via activating the small red button, which can be found on the floor between your feet, or in the case of the front passenger seat seat, the button will be at the right arm of your seat.

Once the HUD has been activated, you will then see the ship's interface appear on your screen. This also signifies that you are safe and ready to fly to space. At the top left of the screen is a map of the ship and its seats. Your seat will show as a green dot meaning that you are ready - other people who aren't ready yet or empty seats will show up as a red dot. When every passengers dot is green, it is time to take off!

Other information on the interface shows the ship's fuel level and its current TT value.

Once the pilot has hit the launch button, the screen will begin to vibrate before shooting towards the stars. The flight is a very short one and your screen will keep you informed of what is happening. Do not be disturbed by seeing "WARNING" on your screen - this is normal. Around 10-15 seconds after launch, you will reach your destination.

Warning: Do not stand up or deactivate your hud once the ship is in a launching state. This will lead to instant death.
