Description
The New Oxford City of Culture was added to Calypso on the continent Amethera with the advent of VU 8.3. It is dedicated to culture and the arts and was designed in conjunction with Ernst Billgren, a renowned Swedish artist.

Lecture Theatres

In the Art Galleries, there are a number of lecture theatres that display videos on topics related to art. They are two sizes of lecture theatres, big and small. The small lecture theatres are simply a long room with a video screen at one end, while the big lecture theatres are two-tier rooms with an elevated viewing gallery, which is accessible using a staircase, in addition to the gathering space at the floor. The big lecture theatres also have a bigger display screen.
Real Life Items
Art
The Art Gallery offers many real life paintings for sale. Most are priced in the range of tens of thousands of PED, with one painting being priced at the record figure of 195 000 PED.
There are also various interactive signs located at various places that reveal the biographies of the various featured artists.
Vexed Generation Store
Additionally, it is possible to buy Real Life clothing as well as virtual clothing at the Vexed Generation in-game store. The clothing sold at this stall is designed by two famous british designers, Adam Thorpe and Joe Hunter of Vexed Generation.
Fashion Show Catwalk
Located in the back room of the 'Hjorten' building (Giant Deer). A wonderful colorful space, used for Fashion events & parties.
Trade Centre

The New Oxford Trade Centre is similar in function to Outposts and Service Centres, though differing greatly in scale and size. It is a sizable building and includes Revival Terminals, Trade Terminals, Repair Terminals, Society Terminals, Auctioneers, Technicians, Storage Facilities, and other facilities, all available in aplenty.
Apartments
There are four apartment buildings located just SW of New Oxford at the new Billton Towers teleport.
Shopping
The participant shops beneath the 'Hjorten' building (i.e. Giant Deer) in New Oxford became available for purchase with VU 8.5. This shopping area is accessible via stairs located on the North and South sides of the building.
There are eight (8) shops open with active estate terminals, as well as a number of shops open with inactive terminals, and still more shop areas available for further expansion in the future.
Updates
With the release of VU 8.7.3, the underground caves have expanded, now housing additional estates to be sold at a later date, along with a new mutant to Entropia, the Boorum.

New Oxford City of Culture The Entropia Universe has now been updated with a unique city dedicated to culture and the arts. Located on the Amethera continent, New Oxford (coord. 15600, 19300) has been designed in conjunction with renowned Swedish artist Ernst Billgren. The distinctive appearance of New Oxford is further complemented by exciting partnerships with Real World artists and clothes manufacturers. The Vexed Generation clothing brand from London have opened a store on the bottom floor of the new 'Hjorten' building, where you can buy real and virtual contemporary urban clothing. Over 20 new garments are now available to participants both inside and outside the Entropia Universe. 21st Century Fine Art from New York are exhibiting over 60 works from artists such as Mark Kostabi, Mark De Muro and Kika Karadi in the fantastic new art galleries of New Oxford. Again, all pieces of art can be bought virtually for your apartment on Calypso, and some may be ordered and delivered for your home in the Real World. As a center for the arts, New Oxford also allows participants to attend lectures from the above mentioned artists, where they reveal some of the secrets behind their success in the art world. New apartment complexes have also been included in New Oxford with many new and interesting design details incorporated. A brand new Trade Center is also included in New Oxford. MindArk are proud to be the vanguard of interaction between the real and virtual worlds through the first virtual universe, the Entropia Universe.
