Voice Chat

Connecting with fellow Entropians via a voice chat service can be both helpful and fun.

Not only does it allow people to get to know one another better, but it is handy being able to communicate with teammates without having to stop and type.

There are many options for voice chat depending on your needs and preferences.

For group video hookups see Paltalk LIVE VIDEO CHAT

Equipment You Will Need

In order to use voice chat, you will need:

  • Microphone - so that you can talk
  • Earphones - so that when you talk, others do not hear all the chat, game sounds, and other sounds coming from your computer

Instant Messengers

Many instant messenger services now offer voice chat as part of their free services. These are typically for one-on-one conversations and not for groups larger than two people:

TeamSpeak

Teamspeak allows large groups of people to speak with one another in chat rooms. Teamspeak (TS) is a small program you download and install locally on your computer, which permits you to connect to an IP address of a TS server.

TS Overlay is a separate program which will overlay information about the chat while you are in EU. The information is customizable and can include the local time, who is speaking, which chat room you are in, who has entered/left the chat room, etc.

Here are some public Teamspeak servers created for use by EU participants:

Ventrilo

Ventrilo is similar to Teamspeak, though has more limited options for free use. If you set-up a free Ventrilo server, you will be limited to 8 people online at a time. There are many services available for purchase using Ventrilo servers, including the ability to support more participants.
